Therapy for People Who Don’t Really Like Therapy

Online therapy for adults and teens in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida — especially the angry, overthinking, emotionally shut-down, nerdy, creative, or therapy-skeptical ones.

You don’t need to show up knowing exactly what’s wrong, saying all the “right” therapy words, or pretending you’re comfortable talking about feelings.

Here, you can ask questions, disagree, make obscure references, swear if you need to, and actually talk to a therapist who talks back.

Maybe You Don’t Hate Therapy.

Maybe You Just Hate That Kind of Therapy.

The kind where you spend an hour wondering what you’re supposed to say.

Where every answer seems to lead to another “And how does that make you feel?”

Where anger is something to calm down, overthinking is something to stop doing, and the parts of you that are a little intense, weird, skeptical, or complicated somehow become problems to fix.

Yeah… that’s not really the assignment here.

Therapy with me is a conversation. You’ll talk about what’s actually happening, figure out why certain patterns keep showing up, and make room for both the logical part of your brain and the emotional stuff you wish would leave you alone.

You might talk about your childhood. You might talk about the argument you had yesterday. You might explain your entire family dynamic through a character arc from a show I’ve never seen. It all counts.

You don’t have to perform therapy correctly. You just have to show up as yourself.

Not Sure Where to Start?

Pick the one that sounds most like you.

Okay, But What Can We Actually Work On?

Therapy doesn’t have to start with a diagnosis. Sometimes it starts with knowing that something in your life, your relationships, or your own head isn’t working the way you want it to anymore.

For Adults Who Are Tired of Thinking Their Way in Circles

Maybe you’re angry more often than you want to be. Resentful. Shut down. Stuck in the same relationship patterns. Or maybe you understand exactly why you do what you do and are increasingly annoyed that understanding it hasn’t actually changed anything.

We can look at what’s underneath the patterns, what your emotions are trying to tell you, and what needs to change, without asking you to abandon the logical part of your brain in the process.

For Teens Who Don’t Need Another Adult Telling Them How to Feel

Being a teenager is hard enough without feeling like every adult around you is analyzing, correcting, or trying to get you to “open up.”

I work with teens dealing with anger, stress, isolation, big emotions, relationship problems, school pressure, or just feeling misunderstood. The goal is to build enough trust that we can figure out what’s actually going on, together.

Yes, I’m a Therapist. No, I’m Not Going to Sit There and Stare at You.

I believe therapy works better when you feel like you’re talking to an actual person.

So yes, I’ll ask questions. I’ll share observations. I might laugh, pull a face, or occasionally swear. You’re allowed to ask me questions, disagree with me, tell me something isn’t working, or admit that an exercise I suggested feels completely ridiculous.

I’m not here to be a blank slate, and you don’t need to perform, impress me, or come up with the “right” answers.

My job is to get curious with you about what’s happening, help you make sense of the patterns that keep showing up, and find ways forward that actually make sense for the way your brain works.

You can expect to be talked to (not at) and accepted, not just tolerated.

The stories we connect with usually stick with us for a reason.

Books, movies, games, anime, comics, superheroes, fandoms, and fictional characters can give us a different way to talk about things like identity, relationships, morality, grief, anger, power, responsibility, and the choices we make.

That’s part of what Geek Therapy can look like.

If there’s a character, storyline, game, or fictional world that helps you explain something about yourself, bring it in. We can use the things that already make sense to you as another way into the things that don’t.

And if none of that is your thing? That’s completely fine, too. You don’t need a character class, a favorite superhero, or an encyclopedic knowledge of Star Wars to work with me.

Sometimes a Fictional Character Explains It Better Than You Can

A Few Things You Probably Want to Know

Still Not Sure You Like Therapy? Fair Enough.

You don’t have to decide whether you believe in therapy before we talk. You just have to be curious enough to see if this version of it might feel different.
